Near BART station.

Exceptional. Close to a lot of places! theater! Restaurants! Union square! Great old hotel. Great price! No restaurant, but I still had plenty restaurants close by.

Verified 09 / 04 / 2018

Excellent. Decent hotel for value. Nice staff Old hotel. Very few light sources. Only one outlet that was by the door. And in a terrible stinky bum filled neighborhood

Verified 08 / 04 / 2018

Excellent. Good location, historic design, reasonable price With historic design you do get a few things maybe more historic than you'd prefer - toilet seat for example would be nice if newer.

Victor 24 / 03 / 2019

Quiet, good location, okay bed, inadequate to non-working WiFi.. Clean room, decent bed WiFi unacceptable. Old building getting a bit musty.

Goncalo 29 / 04 / 2019

Historic hotel great stay.

Alejandra 19 / 04 / 2019

Great inside out..

Nancie 24 / 03 / 2019

Wonderful get away.. The room was the perfect size. The bath was huge. It was clean and adorable. Will stay here again. Nothing

Verified 08 / 04 / 2018

Above average. Rooms good for the price, location Dark lighting, rude front desk staff

Carlos 07 / 04 / 2018

Acceptable. The Whitcomb is a historic property with a very good location to city hall and points of interests. This is good for casual traveler. Couples, Families etc. Not a business oriented hotel. If you are a business traveler this hotel is not suitable. WiFi is very slow and unstable. There are no plugins in the desk/work area. Room is very dimly lit. Be aware business traveler that may have presentations /downloads etc. Expect 90-120 min. to do

Susann 23 / 03 / 2019

Bad area surrounding hotel, homelessness in area made it unsafe. Hotel was historically beautiful. Needs some TLC. Staff not friendly, lighting in rooms very poor. Far too expensive for quality given

Jacalyn 10 / 04 / 2019

Very good.

Omar 07 / 04 / 2019

Good .

Megan 21 / 03 / 2019

Excellent, would stay here again in a heart beat.. The location is great, within walking distance of restaurants and entertainment. The room was clean and comfortable, and the staff was so nice! Whenever I passed an employee they would stop and say hello and ask about my day. From the room I had an excellent view of the Orpheum theatre, which was the main point of interest for my trip, and there was no excess street or neighbor noise. I would recommend this location to any and everyone planning to stay in the San Francisco area. The one criticism I have is the way the outside of the building is maintained. Being in San Francisco I know that some areas can be dirtier/more prone to litter, but it seemed like there was a lot of debris. I actually stepped on a banana peel three feet away from the front door.

Leti 07 / 04 / 2018

Acceptable. Nothering Location

Noel 06 / 04 / 2018

Acceptable. All the vending machines were out of water. When I called the front desk for water he said drink the tap water. He was so rude. Plus there are homeless people outside of the hotel.

Karen 21 / 03 / 2019

Will never stay again. The room was clean The bathroom was horrible. not enough light,no place to put toiletries, toilet to low. Hallways dark and dingy ,carpet in hallway dirty. Hotel just very shabby

Patricia 27 / 03 / 2019

Pleasure .

Baby 27 / 03 / 2019

old hotel.

Jorge 20 / 03 / 2019

Not terrible but not amazing. It was good. the First room we got ended up being an already occupied room so the staff tried their best to fix it for us. You can feel the genuine sorry from the manager and his effort to fix it was great. Maybe having a small microwave or mini fridge in the rooms. I’ve stayed at 3 star hotels that had those items for a lot cheaper rooms.

Abdulmajeed 03 / 04 / 2018

Acceptable. nothing I have seen the homeless inside the hotel .

Michelle 03 / 04 / 2018

Above average. The stafff and easy check in. cleanliness could have been better.

Anonymous 20 / 03 / 2019

Clean but dated and musty. The staff was very friendly and it was clean. It was very outdated and musty. The sheets were even frayed. For the price of the rooms per night, even through a discount site, it was too expensive for what it was.

Location & Service.

Anonymous 19 / 03 / 2019

Very poor. Hotel Whitcomb charged my card three transactions instead of one. Triple charged. Now I can’t get to their manager to have them resolve this quickly. Such a hassle!

Tam 03 / 04 / 2018

Exceptional. Great location at a bargain Requested for additional body wash and nothing came.

Verified 02 / 04 / 2018

Very good. The hotel itself was a beautiful heritage one: similar looking to Titanic ship. The rooms were quaint and felt like we were going back into time. Atmosphere was wonderful. The worst part of this hotel is the location. Unfortunately, it is located in the tenderloin district, known for crime, drugs, and homelessness. It felt very uncomfortable walking around that area-- and it stunk!

Mario 18 / 03 / 2019

Good. The lobby was really nice and location was great Rooms are a bit outdated not really a family hotel

Jane 02 / 02 / 2019

Bad side of the city - nothing really in the area food wise etc.

Lee 07 / 01 / 2019

Looks like a scene from The Shining .

Blanca 18 / 03 / 2019

Never again would I ever stay there!. The only thing good about this hotel was the location, housekeeping was so extremely friendly, valet person went beyond to help us he was very nice and Sam's diner across the street. Other than that my experience was horrible the AC unit barely worked fungus on the shower walls. Front desk staff was rude especially Bonnie for being in customer service she was horrible and needs some training and hotel was over priced not worth it at all!! Acceptable. To loud because I have ptsd terrible service and located in a terrible location

Alexey 01 / 04 / 2018

Acceptable. Location Very old

Hayley 17 / 03 / 2019

Wish it was in a different part of town. But all in all beautiful.. The hotel was BEAUTIFUL. The beds were very comfy The fact that the homeless was everywhere and they were not afraid to make you feel uncomfortable. If the hotel was around union square it would have been better. There is no decent food places right around there except a little market called “ Market”. Valet is the only parking there and they do not tell you that until you arrive. We have a normal size Chevy and it was 66$ a night ontop of our stay. Booking did save us 35$ a night for room taxes that is separate tho.

Julie 17 / 03 / 2019

Passable. Staff wasn’t helpful but hotel was overall good Staff customer service

William 30 / 03 / 2018

Acceptable. Great location. We had to change rooms because the first room we were given smelled horrible. We were woken up at one in the morning by someone entering our room saying they were staff bring towels that were requested.

Marika 17 / 03 / 2019

Not really the best bang for your buck. It is a very beautiful hotel filed with wood carvings, marble and stained glass My bed was concaved. At 3am you could hear all the doors slamming from people leaving or coming in for the night. My shower did not work the first day, they did fix it and the water pressure and temperature was good. Parking at the hotel was 45 a night which was astronomical when locations near where at $20. Then they charge you tax for parking. Only one side of the elevators worked and they were extremely slow.

Just OK.

Kyan 16 / 03 / 2019

This entire property could use refreshing, including the staff - but still a decent budget option.. The location was central and made it easy to get around the city. Even though the property is a bit rundown, I kind of appreciated the charm of the property. The price was very reasonable for what you get. Oh boy, there's a lot to say here. This was one of the my least favorite hotel stays in all my years of traveling. Here's what could use some improvement: (1) Staff: The staff was very unhelpful. I witnessed the concierge on a 20+ minute personal call and when one person asked for help making dinner reservations, she said "You need to call the restaurant." (what?!) The front desk staff checked me into a room that was still being cleaned, then told me they didn't have the ability to change me into a different room ("It's easier for us to keep you in this one"). I've spent several years working the front desk of a hotel and know this is not true. On top of this, they were simply terrible at communicating. I would ask direct questions and they would ignore me or talk to themselves. It was a very, very unpleasant experience all around. Checking out took *3* employees ten minutes to fully complete the process, due to being mischarged (their mistake). (2) The WiFi is basically non existent in the rooms, although the hotel attempts to charge you a $35 amenity fee to cover the cost of this. (3) My toilet barely flushed and took several tries after a number two (4) Everything is very outdated here. The hallway carpets look decades old and are warped, which seem easy to trip on. My TV had lines running through it and the channel selection was very limited. The shower curtain did that "I'm going to stick to your body the entire time" trick; a simple replacement to the curved shower curtain rods would fix this. Some of the outlets didn't work. The desk chair (which is uncomfortable) doesn't fit under the desk, blocking a walkway. If this hotel just made a few basic upgrades, it could step up its game a bit.

Theresa 30 / 03 / 2018

Exceptional. Great location. Loved that Starbucks is in the hotel. A lot of homeless hangout around the entrance.

Joshua 29 / 03 / 2018

Very good. Location is very good. Staff was friendly & helpful. Hallways are dark. Rooms, while well-maintained, are small. The bathroom was very small. Very few electrical outlets.

Pauline 15 / 03 / 2019

Pleasant. Near city center, Lyft ease. At least Starbucks in lobby Brendan bellman helped w luggage delivered by airline Staff at desk rude and not helpful at checkout. No in hotel eating. Only Starbucks. Many drug addicts and homeless loitering outside was scary for my kids. They were approached by them.

ANANDKUMAR 19 / 10 / 2018

This is a very old style.hotel. no basic tea mak or anything in the room.

Wayne 07 / 08 / 2018

Dreadful location.

Nicole 15 / 03 / 2019

Good. Location and one friendly bell man who showed where to get hot water. The black hair on our towel and hand wiped stain on the wall

Mintarsih 24 / 03 / 2018

Acceptable. nothing nothing was right, bad location , old building, darkly

Jeffery 23 / 03 / 2018

Very good. It is very class for the price. $38 to park overnight

Gail 14 / 03 / 2019

Pleasant. Close to theater. No restaurant.

Natalie 31 / 07 / 2018

Targetted Women and Unclean Rooms.

Josef 14 / 07 / 2018

Absolutely the worst and the most expensive accommodation I had during my 2 weeks trip across CA. .

Anonymous 14 / 03 / 2019

Not going to return. The staff was very nice. This is an older dated hotel that needs updating. Phone didn't work. Shower head was about 5 feet high. Parking was hard to find in an alley behind the building.

Dan 22 / 03 / 2018

Acceptable. Room was advertised as two single beds. It actually was one bed and I had to sleep at our office instead. No second bed

Mirella 20 / 03 / 2018

Nickolaus 14 / 03 / 2019
